In recent years even Budapest has become a capital that offers many fun opportunities for gay people. Most of the gay life is concentrated in the area of downtown Pest. In the afternoon, after visiting several museums, you could relax in one of its many spas…. The most common one among homosexuals is the Magnum Sauna, near the National Museum. And before dinner, to start with a nice drink, you can go to one of the many small gay bars in the area. Alongside the museum the best bar is called Bar Action, which organizes events throughout the week.
Budapest is considered the gay metropolis of Eastern Europe. There is a very vibrant gay community who has created many different groups and associations. In Budapest gay couples have the same rights as heterosexuals ones.
On Saturday evenings, bars are very popular, some of which have a beautiful, contemporary architecture. There are many bars and cafes where you can spend the night, many of them with fun shows with go-go boy dancers. If you want, you can go in the underground “relax” or in the lounge room to refresh yourself before dancing to the rhythm of house music. Fancy a slice of pizza? There are also delicious pizzerias waiting for you. Some are small and cozy while others are run by gay people.
Many local bars of the Danube offer during the weekend a variety of fun events including drag queens that perform on stage surrounded by tables arranged over multiple levels. Here you can enjoy cocktails and listen to good music. If you are looking for a cruise, you can go to Korzo head, a beautiful promenade on the Pest side of Erzsébet and Március Bridge.
Most of these bars close at 5 am. Throughout the night they offer various types of commercial and traditional music. For Hungarians, the nights start at 12.30 am and finish late in the clubs.
We can also find monthly magazines directly addressed to the gay community. They don’t only write about the problems faced by the group, but also the opportunities they have in this country. There are reports on the gay movement, on the most popular sites for gay Hungarians as well as a description of all programs for cultural events.
Do not miss this fantastic city; the “Pearl of the Danube” is waiting for you. Rent our apartments in Budapest, and enjoy a holiday full of surprises and new adventures!

Promenade Paris – Promenade Plantee – Promenade Plantée | Apartments Blog
April 29, 2009If you thought you knew everything about Paris, its monuments, museums, trendy bars, shopping streets … You’d be surprised! The Parisians themselves recognize it easily, the city of lights never ceases to surprise you, and there is always something new to discover…
For example, have you heard of the discrete “balade suspendue”, a lovely footpath above ground level, adored by Parisians in search of a little greenery and freshness at the week-end?
The “suspended tour” or promenade plantée serpentines through the entire 12th district and is about 4.5 km long ; an audacious landscape gardener and an architect ( Mathieux and Vergely) had an incredible idea: to use an old railway line that’s been disused since 1969 and transform it into a green path….suspended above the city!
The end of the line was at Bastille (Paris cultural Mecca, site of the legendary prison where the French Revolution began, and where the best pubs and clubs are to be found). The train use to cross the neighbourhood to get to the little town of Saint-Maur in the suburbs.
On a sunny day, start your journey with a café crème and a croissant on a terrace on the Bastille square; then, go behind the gorgeous opera where the path begins. It is nine metres high and overlooks the charming neighbourhood above the avenue Daumesnil, right until the pretty garden of Reuilly: this part of the walk is called the “Viaduct of the Arts”. You’ll be surrounded by beautiful vegetation, cherry trees, majestic lime trees, flower beds, and all this suspended in the air, in the heart of Paris, with the sounds of horns coming from below and TV antennas cluttering the Parisian roofs….it’s a complete surreal experience … and oh so romantic !
Once you have landed in the garden of Reuilly (former marshalling and freight yard of the French railways), you will admire a huge sundial in the shape of a butterfly (there are many hidden in Paris, have fun spotting them …). You can take a well deserved break on the lawn or walk in the shady thematic garden (aquatic, bamboo … there’s something for everyone’s taste!)
Then, if you want to continue your stroll, follow the Allée Vivaldi, lined with shops of all kinds, and where the bicycle path begins if you are in the mood for a ride. Finally, the walk goes underground and you will go through tunnels and trenches until the Bois de Vincennes, where you can lunch in a nice Brasserie to conclude a very busy morning!
Come and discover this bucolic route and another way of living the city, forgetting it while contemplating it. From this green path Paris seems so far away and you’ll feel like you’re elsewhere…. and you will enjoy the city of lights even more when you get back to its pretty busy streets!
Rent now apartments in Paris and discover this unusual walk called the Promenade Plantée during these beautiful spring days, relaxation and fun guaranteed in the capital of gastronomy!
germany beer – german bier – german beer drinking – bavarian bier | Apartments Blog
April 28, 2009Beer is a tradition in Germany and a ritual that the Germans can not give up as well as being an integral part of their culture. After the Czechs and the Irish, the Germans are the biggest beer drinkers. The historical importance of German beer comes from a law called “Reinheitsgebot,” which was enacted in 1500 which still remains in force in some German cities today. It prohibited the use of poor quality materials in the production process of this great beverage. Because of the importance to the Germans and their culture, it would be guaranteed an affordable price.
Another concern in Germany in addition to the costs, were the chemicals used in its production. To avoid food poisoning or illness, the law was changed that prevented the use of poor quality ingredients in the making of beer. Initially, the fermentation process to convert the malt into alcohol was seen as an act of witchcraft. It was said that they were witches who made the fermentation process possible, but over time, people saw that the substance that rose to the surface was yeast and that this was the cause of fermentation. However, it was Louis Pasteur who discovered that the real cause of the fermentation were microorganisms which transforms the malt into alcohol and carbon dioxide.
All cities have at least one brewery. The world’s oldest still in operation is the Weihenstephan Abbey, located in the Bavarian town of Freising. In total there are about 1,300 breweries in Germany and a production of over 5,000 brands. Half of the German brewers say it’s a Bavarian.
Thanks to this wide variety, almost every village has its own beer, and sometimes more than one. Being able to list them all would be an impossible task, but here are some of the most famous ones: Pilsner, Maibock, or Helles bock – a springtime beer, Doppelbock and Altbier. Italy, Spain and many other countries also have well known beers, too. Together, all these countries in unison give a broad overview of the German beer culture and how it has developed over the centuries.
The beer festivals are quite popular in several countries. In Germany, a famous one that is visited by many foreigners is the Oktoberfest in Bavaria, one of the most popular festivals in Europe for Germany beer that goes back to the nineteenth century. The main attraction of course, is the beer, along with meat and sausages. There are all sorts of attractions and popular bands and many have the traditional Bavarian costume, which is almost a must for the locals. The festival begins in late September, lasts 16 days, starting with the parade through the city with wagons carrying barrels of beer accompanied by a crowd in a procession to the park. Once there, the mayor officially opens the first barrel with the opening phrase of “O’zapft is!” (”It’s tapped!” in the Austro-Bavarian dialect).
If you like beer you must travel to Berlin. You’ll discover their traditions and their beer, and get to taste all the different types, too! Rent apartments in Berlin, you’ll have fun tasting hundreds of different brews while enjoying cheap and comfortable accommodation.

Posted by seville | seville | Monday 27 April 2009 12:10 pmSeville is much appreciated city of Spain, and a very cultured and peaceful population was found here; The Tartessos. When you arrive to this city, you will immediately notice that you are in the centre of the Andalusian culture, the centre of bullfighting and flamenco.
This is a city with a long history of gastronomy. In the city you can find many restaurants where you can try the many and varied dishes such as: Gazpacho (cold soup with vegetables and tomatoes), fried fish with Flamenco Eggs (fried eggs with tomato sauce) and chorizo (which is a typical Spanish sausage) all washed down with the typical wine of the region.

Spanish Grand Prix – Catalunya Grand Prix – Montmeló – Montmelo Hotels | Apartments Blog
April 27, 2009Formula 1 has always been a sport with great emotions. High octane racing, thrills and spills, adrenalin and temperamental drivers have always been the order of the day in Formula 1 racing. On 8th – 10th May 2009 the Formula 1 Gran Premio de España will take place at the Catalonian circuit of Montmelo. With two races to go before the Spanish Grand Prix in May things are certainly hotting up within the F1 community.
With Ross Brawn’s diffuser having been given the all-clear by the FIA the race to provide a car that can compete with Team Brawn is well and truly on. With the Toyotas and Williams cars not too far behind that just leaves the McLarens, the Ferraris, Renaults and Red Bulls to get their game on in this thrilling season.
To be honest though, it looks like the McLaren cars will be catching up pretty quickly as they already had a car half built for the new diffuser but didn’t use it as they were still reeling by what happened two years ago involving the “Stepneygate” scandal. This was when Nigel Stepney, a senior mechanic at McLaren was “handed” some interesting technical documentation on the Ferraris. Whether McLaren used that information to their advantage is another matter. The other teams will probably have to build their cars from scratch as they all hoped that Ross brawn’s diffuser would be banned by the FIA.
The Spanish Grand Prix at Montmeló has always been a favourite in the F1 calendar as it’s usually in May when it takes place. The weather in Barcelona is usually quite warm and it’s the 5th race in the calendar so the drivers are quite comfortable with their new cars and ready to take on the Catalan Montmelo circuit.
Jensen Button has it all to do and he could well be the surprise champion of this year’s competition if all goes to plan. The British driver has not had the best of times in F1 either. It’s a case of a great driver not getting the right car. A similar thing is happening with Fernando Alonso. The double world champion has not had a decent drive for two years now and last year could almost be called a sabbatical year for him as the Renault cars were just not competitive enough to make a dent on the championship. Let’s hope the Renault’s can perform a bit better for him this year!
Montmelo should certainly see some changes in most of the top cars as it’s almost always been a reference for the F1 teams whereby they’ve “ironed out” most of the defects and troubles that the cars usually present at the start of the season.
Are you up for the thrill of motor racing and the excitement of Formula 1? Of course you are! Why not rent apartments in Barcelona and enjoy what could be one of the most thrilling races this season.
